Semester 5 begins May 6, 2024. 

Registration for Semester 5 begins Tuesday, April 16, 2024. To register, come in and meet with our guidance counsellor during the following times. No appointment is needed.  The deadline to register for Semester 5 is May 9, 2024

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

9:30 am to 12:00 pm/12:45 pm to 4:00 pm

Wednesday Evenings 

4:45 pm to 6:00 pm

To streamline your registration process, please bring a piece of ID and your most recent high school transcript with you when you come in. 

All new and former students need to register for the new school year. 

For students outside of the Thunder Bay area, LAEC is partnered with Contact North. Contact North has locations in communities across Ontario to assist with registration, technical support, and much more.

NEW for Semester 5: English as a Second Language for the Workplace

NEW for Semester 5: English as a Second Language for the Workplace

The ESL for the Workplace program helps adult second language learners improve their English skills to prepare for the workplace. The program is designed to help students:

  • Build language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking;
  • Further develop skills that are essential to success in the Canadian workplace;
  • Earn credit(s) toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). 

The program is for students whose first language is not English, and who are 18 years of age or older.

Elementary International Language Programs

Program Information

The Elementary International Languages Program offers students the opportunity to learn to listen, speak and write in a new language or to maintain the language of their home or heritage. Classes are open to students in Kindergarten to Grade 8. No prior knowledge of the language is necessary to enroll in these classes. 

Languages Offered

  • Finnish 
  • Mandarin
